Information we process

When you sign in with Google or Facebook, Firebase Authentication may provide basic account information such as your user ID, display name, email address and profile photo. KidneyTalksPH also stores profile preferences you choose, posts and replies you submit, votes, saves, topic follows, reports and moderation records needed to operate the community.

Health information and anonymous posts

You do not need to provide detailed medical information to create an account. If you voluntarily include health information in a discussion, it may be visible to other users according to the way you post it. When you choose anonymous posting, the public post uses “Anonymous Member”; a separate private ownership record can still link that content to your account for moderation and abuse prevention.

Ask KidneyTalksPH and Gemini

The Ask feature sends a limited question and selected source excerpts to the configured Gemini API to create a summary. The current server code attempts to remove email addresses, Philippine mobile numbers and long identifying numbers before sending text. Do not enter information you would not want processed by an external AI provider.

Why we process data

Data is used to provide authentication, community discussions, anonymous participation, moderation, bookmarks, followed topics, notifications, abuse prevention and relevant AI-assisted search. KidneyTalksPH should collect only information reasonably needed for these functions.

Service providers

The current beta uses Firebase services for authentication/database functions and Gemini for optional AI summaries. A production host may also process technical request and hosting data. Review the deployed service configuration before launch and keep provider agreements/settings appropriate for the data being processed.

Your choices and requests

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights relating to notice, access, correction, objection, erasure/blocking and data portability. Requests should be handled through the KidneyTalksPH contact channel and verified before account data is disclosed or changed.

Retention and security

Community content is generally retained while it remains useful to the service or until removed under the platform’s policies, subject to moderation, legal and operational needs. Administrative and security records may need different retention periods. Exact production retention periods should be finalised before launch and documented here.

Launch note: This beta privacy notice reflects the current application design, but it should be reviewed by a qualified Philippine privacy/legal professional before a large public launch, particularly because health information may be sensitive personal information.
